Introduction to Health Economics and Health Care in Canada

Price: $600.00

Overview

Health economics is a branch of economics that focuses on understanding how resources are allocated in the health care sector and how these decisions affect individuals and society as a whole. It involves studying the production, distribution, and consumption of health care goods and services.

This course explores the economics of Canada’s publicly funded health care system, including financing, health care markets, and government roles. You’ll examine key economic concepts and how they apply to Canada’s system, including the division of responsibilities between federal and provincial governments and the role of private providers. The course also addresses challenges like rising costs, an aging population, and equitable access to care. By the end, you’ll have a solid understanding of health economics in Canada and be prepared to analyze and engage in discussions on health care policy and funding. This course is the first in the Fundamentals of Health Economics certificate.
