PowerED is pleased to offer The Innovation Igniter program in partnership with inVison Edge.

Many teams lack the systems and tools required for repeatable innovation. This inability to create and validate meaningful and unique solutions can hamper progress and lead to stagnation and missed opportunities.

The Innovation Igniter program is an innovation fundamentals course with facilitated sessions that will teach you how to innovate with confidence. The program was developed by inVision Edge and is coached by inVision Edge experts.

Course Structure

This 5-week program features weekly virtual facilitated classes to build your innovation skillset quickly. We’ll do that through:

  • Convenient online digital classes: Before attending each module, you will watch a few training videos to give you a foundation of knowledge prior to attending the live class. There will be a total of 4-hours of videos for this course.
  • Practical hands-on modules: Since you will watch your training videos prior to each module, we will spend our live class together on practical hands-on activities.
  • Post-training application and coaching support: With the help of your innovation coach, you’ll complete your coursework by applying your new innovation skills and tools in the real world.

Tuesday 9:00 – 11:30 AM MT
Workshop and breakout group acitivites in groups of three.

Thursday – Individual 30 minute coaching sessions booked through the course calendar.

Her career started in Human Resources and expanded to include executive leadership experience in areas such as IT, inside sales and customer service. In her nine years with inVision, she has achieved mastery level in Innovation Engineering and has supported clients in a variety of industries such as insurance, public service, not-for-profit and manufacturing.

Kathy Andrews

Kathy has a passion for helping teams reach new heights through planning and execution. With a focus on team alignment, Kathy works with teams to ensure clarity of communication, roles, and expectations. Her curious nature leads her to ask tough questions that propel forward progress for the teams and the organizations she supports.

Kathy comes to you with 10 years of experience in strategic initiatives with the Government of Manitoba, and a master's degree in human cognition. Her work as a public servant resulted in key deliverables in the areas of government innovation and transformation; child and maternal health and wellness; climate and green initiatives; and COVID-19 testing. Kathy's graduate work included research in decision making, organizational psychology, memory and linguistics. The confluence of these experiences make Kathy a dynamic trainer who brings learners along quickly for maximum impact.

Is this an instructor-led course?

Yes, this course is instructor-led. You will be online for a portion of the day with your instructor in a small group session. You will also have individual coaching sessions with your instructor.

How much time will I need to spend?

This course is five weeks in length and will require approximately 27 hours of study.

Do I have to be online at a certain time of day?

Yes, you must be online from 9:00 – 11:30 AM MT, Monday to Friday for the duration of the course. Plus you will have access to the instructor for individual coaching.

When do I start?

Your course will open on January 23, 2024 at 9:00 AM MT.

How long will I have access to the course?

You will have 90 days access to the course from the course start date.

Are there tests or quizzes involved?

There will be assignments that will help you reframe your approach to getting feedback on ideas, creating solutions, and improving products or systems. Upon successful completion of the training modules and all application assignments, you will receive the Innovation Engineering Blue Belt.

What are the computer requirements for this course?

If you can access the Internet, you can access the course environment. The course environment is compatible with laptops, PCs, tablets and smart phones.

This course does not have a required prerequisite.
